In two short days the People United 2-week road show ends in Urmston Greater Manchester with an NHS party in the park to celebrate the 65th birthday of our brilliant NHS.Where better to mark the 65th year of this country’s greatest social achievement then at the place where it all began – Trafford General Hospital. Come and join us from 2pm in a ‘Hands around our hospital’ event, followed by a short march -led by one of the People United buses – to Golden Hill Park, for an NHS party in the park. There will be live music from the Debonaries and the Rainband; tea and a giant birthday cake and lots of fun activities for the kids in this community-led celebration.Stopping off towns and cities across England, the People United bus tour has heard from ordinary people, in work and out, struggling in austerity Britain. Over and over again people spoke passionately about our NHS, what it means to them and their fears for its future. NHS workers are feeling the strain as spending is squeezed, jobs cut and private companies move into to run more services. They are seeing at first hand the destruction of our NHS and are concerned that cuts and impossible workloads are affecting the quality of care they can deliver to patients.
Our NHS means so much to us that we’re not just celebrating in Manchester – we are holding events right across the country from Trafford to Whittington, Nottingham to Gillingham there will be an event at a hospital or town square near you.
